24-hr Emergency Shelter

for Girls 6-17 and Boys 6-9

Scholer Home is an emergency care facility licensed for up to 8 children and is designed for short term stays of not longer than 30 to 60 days. The purpose of this home is to provide emergency shelter care for children unable to remain in their own homes due to actual or potential abuse, neglect, or exploitation including runaways or as an alternative to detention. Scholer Home provides food, shelter, emotional support, and a structured environment where expectations are fully spelled out. All placements must be referred by County placing agencies: Probation Department, Department of Child Services, the Police, the Courts, or Sheriff's Department. Agencies should call Scholer Home prior to placement to ensure a bed is available. Scholer Home also runs the Girls' Residential program for longer term placements ages 12-18.

Transitional Living Program for Boys and Girls 18-21

The Transitional Living Program is designed for young adults ages 18-21 who are close to being emancipated and willing to follow rules/guidelines and responsibility of the program. The purpose of this program is to provide young adults in need of a supported environment the opportunity to live in the community. Each youth will be assisted by a counselor and guided towards self-sufficiency. The main areas of focus are money management, sustained employment, and developing the skills and confidence necessary to live successfully on their own.

Thompson House for Boys 12-21

Thompson House is a residential home licensed for up to 8 boys. The purpose of this home is to provide a residence for boys aimed at their growth toward responsible behavior and return home or emancipation. The components of the program are participation in running and managing the house and in group activities; incentives for positive behavior in house and school; tutorial help in academic areas; independent living skills; individual and family counseling and follow-up. All placements are referred by Probation, the Department of Child Services, or the Department of Education. All boys either attend local schools or are involved in a G.E.D. program as appropriate. Summer employment and participation in community activities are strongly encouraged.

Revington House for Boys 12-21

Revington House is a residential home licensed for up to 6 boys. The purpose of this home is to provide a residence for boys who have been adjudicated for an offense and have demonstrated in their treatment program their readiness to transition into the community. The components of the program are participation in running and managing the house and in group activities; incentives for positive behavior in-house and school; tutorial help in academic areas; in-house counseling toward individual goals; independent living skills, family counseling and after care. All placements are referred by Probation, the Department of Child Services, or the Department of Education. All boys attend public school or should be working on obtaining his GED. This program has 24 hour awake night staff and works closely with SAFTIP.

Scholer Home - Residential Program for Girls 12-18

Scholer Home is a residential home licensed for both temporary emergency placements and longer term residents ages 12-18. The purpose of this home is to provide a residence for girls aimed at their growth toward responsible behavior and return home or emancipation. The components of the program are participation in running and managing the house and in group activities; incentives for positive behavior in house and school; tutorial help in academic areas; independent living skills; individual and family counseling and follow-up. All placements are referred by Probation, the Department of Child Services, or the Department of Education. All girls attend either local schools or are involved in a G.E.D. program as appropriate. Summer employment and participation in community activities are strongly encouraged.

All programs are administered by Group Homes for Children, Inc. a not-for-profit corporation and is licensed by the Indiana Department of Child Services. Our programming is supported by per diems and is a IV-E eligible facility. All programs offer after-care services.
